On our way home from California today we stopped by the Bonneville Salt Flats International Speedway to make a couple of runs.

The day after the Tour De Fat in Portland we drove up to Astoria, Oregon where we rode the Astoria Riverwalk which just by coincidence is the Rails-To-Trails conservancy's August trail of the month. The Astoria Riverwalk runs along side the Columbia river for about 5 miles.
We drove for three days to get to Portland, Oregon to attend a bicycle event on Saturday where they preach about driving less. Aside from the guilt of the large carbon foot print we made to get there and them not serving our preferred beer, it was an awesome time! The TDF is a ballyhoo of bicycles and beer put on by the New Belgium brewery raising money for local bicycle organizations in the cities they are held. Not anti-car but pro-bike. This was our third Tour De Fat in just as many states.
I was surprised that there was not more people at the event with Portland being the bicycle city it is. I believe the TDF's we attended in Ft Collins and Tempe both had a larger turnout. The 6 mile parade ride through downtown Portland was great with the Portland Police blocking traffic the entire route.
This weekend was our "city-wide garage sale" and Nova went looking for a 20" bike for the upcoming 20" Night At The Pub Pedal and found this All Pro Dragster.
This is the bike I bought a while back from a friend. Other than tear it down I hadn't found any time to do anything with it even though I had entered it in the Ratrod Bike Build Off 4. I missed the deadline for the build off but I did find a couple hours last night to work on it. I re-greased the hubs, replaced a broken spoke, put on a new crank, pedals. Schwinn grips and a Brooks saddle. Took it for a ride around the neighborhood and on the way back I noticed the front tire started rubbing a truss rod as if the wheel was untrue. It started getting worse and then BAM! the tube blew out. I must not have gotten the tire seated properly or something.
This is not how the bike will stay. I was just anxious to see how it rode.
