Last night was our club's 4th annual Tandem Night at the Thursday night ride. We had 15 tandems show up. More photos and a video here. Pictured above is our 2 tandems.
Yesterday I retrieved this frame from storage and built it up for our club's 4th annual Tandem Night which is this Thursday. It's set up with 26x1.75 wheels, single speed coaster brake. Two years ago I built it up for the same occasion. We really don't have the space to leave it ride-able year round. We very seldom ride the other tandem we have that is set up. Last night we took it on a shake down ride to the grocery store. It moves along pretty quickly.
Tired of waiting for the rain to stop this morning I put on my rain coat and ventured out in it to get me a creamed coffee. Took shelter at the park, drank my coffee and downloaded a application for my phone's camera that has a self timer. Once the rain let up I rode around town for a while. When lunch time approached I stopped by a Mexican carry-out, picked up a few food items, took them over to my parents house and ate with them.

This is another bike shirt I got over the weekend. It's from Udall Custom Bikes.
Our club sponsored (in part) an event today named the Ride 'Round Town which was a casual cruise in the big city stopping to tour some historical buildings. More info, photos and a video here.
The Old Mill Tasty Shop has been around since the 1930's
I spent the day with our club showing bicycles at two locations. One in the morning an the other in the afternoon. First was at the Farmers Market in the big city which we've been doing annually for a few years now. The second show was part of a first year event to promote cycling along the big city's main street Douglas Ave. In addition to our bike display this event included safety and maintenance workshops, guided bike tours and a pub pedal hosted by our club all taking place on the main street.
We started our day off with breakfast at an old establishment on Douglas. I took the John Deere bike to show at the Farmers Market. For the afternoon show I went home and picked up two additional bikes. By the end of the day I was too beat to attend the evening pub pedal.
I came across this today and can't say for sure what happened but only what appears to have happened. Possibly the bus was making a wide turn as they do on corners and the driver forgot to allow for the bicycle rack in use on the front and hit the truck stopped at the intersection. The bicycle racks are relatively new here.
Look close and you can see the damage to the truck and the bike leaning in the rack.
