Bike stuff I've seen while out and about lately.
Photo 1: Water bottle cage screen door ornament.
Photo 2: Abandoned bike basket.
Photo 3: Bike police trainees?
Photo 4: I see this guy all over town. Always riding with a crutch.
Our friend Dan showed up at the bike fest this past weekend with a gift for me. This time it was a First Day of Issue stamp/envelope titled Old Glory - Uncle Sam. Dan has also given me a couple neat old bicycle helmets in the past.
Thanks Dan!
From Wikipedia...
"A First Day of Issue Cover or First Day Cover is a postage stamp on a cover, postal card or stamped envelope franked on the first day the issue is authorized for use within the country or territory of the stamp-issuing authority."
Another great but exhausting Midwest Bicycle Fest has come and gone. Had quite a bit of help this year though. Now that the Daughter and Grandkids are back it was once again 4 generations of my family in attendance and helping.
The sign I was making worked out pretty good. Here it is in use.
A couple of nights ago the Grandsons and I tore down this bike and gave it a paint job. Tonight we reassembled it using a different seat, sprocket and grips. We left off the chainguard. We then went riding and had a "rat rod" race. On this bike you have to let the air out of the rear tire to remove it from the frame. After returning home from riding we realized we forgot to put air back in the tire.
We had planned on attending the Gravity Shoot-Out today which is a gravity race we have here at least once a year. It was raining this morning when we were getting ready to leave so I was a little iffy about going. Then while pushing the racer out to load it in the truck the steering broke. So we decided to just stay home. I worked on the bike fest sign some more. Late in the day I fixed the steering on the racer and the Grandsons rode it a few times down a small near-by hill.
The Grandkids and I have been busy in the garage most of the day working on stuff for the bike fest. Above is a sign we're working on.
Ally and I took a break and rode to get us something to drink at the convenience store. She had originally said she wanted pop but once there to my surprise, she chose water. I soon realized it was only because she liked the bottle that it came in.
