Info on our local rail-to-trail the Prairie Sunset Trail

About...
Just West of Wichita, Kansas this crushed stone rail-to-trail is 8 miles in length and runs along a former railroad from Garden Plain, KS East to 2 miles East of Goddard, KS. The trail is paved through the city of Goddard.
The trail is being developed and managed by the Prairie Travelers.

Trail heads...
Garden Plain: From US 54 go South into Garden Plain on 295th Street West. Look for the railroad tracks where the trail takes off to the East.There is parking at the City Park just North of the tracks.
Goddard: From US 54 go South on Main Street to Santa Fe and the park.
East end: There is no parking.

Facilities...
The parks in Garden Plain and Goddard have restrooms. Goddard has convenience stores, restaurants and lodging.

The railroad was last used by the Central Kansas Railway a short-line railroad.
