I donated the frame from this bike to the Midwest Bicycle Fest where it was recently built up by Udall Custom bikes into this "California Cruiser" 26" BMX style bike to be raffled off at this year's bike fest. Below is the bike as I got it, as I built it up for the 1st annual Ratrodbikes.com build off where it took 4th place, and as it is now.
Since moving back and entering a new school, Grandson Ethan (left) quickly made a new "best" friend only to find out his new friend was moving away. Tonight was his last night here. The 2 friends, my other Grandson and myself went bicycle riding. All 3 boys rode old BMX bikes that we've got here waiting to be sold at Sunday's swap meet.
The Grandkids were content with the bikes I had built for them last year when they were just here to visit. Now that they've moved back I thought we'd get them bikes that were probably cooler by their standards and I wouldn't care if they beat them up.
So... as much as I hated to do it, today we bought bikes for them at the big chain store instead of supporting our lbs. Buying 3 of them and at the kids age I just couldn't justify buying better, more expensive bikes. I still feel guilty though.
Bought this at a garage sale in the summer of 2007.
Built it up like a muscle bike for the ratrodbikes.com Kids Bike Build-Off. More photos, video and info here
