Since moving back and entering a new school, Grandson Ethan (left) quickly made a new "best" friend only to find out his new friend was moving away. Tonight was his last night here. The 2 friends, my other Grandson and myself went bicycle riding. All 3 boys rode old BMX bikes that we've got here waiting to be sold at Sunday's swap meet.
A friend dropped of his home-made kids tandem he no longer wanted. The intent was that I would sell it at this Sunday's Swap Meet. Don't think it's gonna happen now.
Watch mid-video for another cool bike we encounter.
Today myself, Nova, our Daughter, our 2 Grandsons and my Dad rode our bike clubs "Canal Cruise". It was a 7 mile ride along the big city's canal bike path. There was a ridiculous head wind on the way out that at times would almost stop you in your tracks. Everyone seemed to do ok though.
Pictured are the Grandsons in front and Nova in the blue shirt. Dad and Daughter are farther back.
The ride started at the Donut Whole where we had coffee and donuts. After the ride we ate at the old NuWay Cafe.
The Grandkids were content with the bikes I had built for them last year when they were just here to visit. Now that they've moved back I thought we'd get them bikes that were probably cooler by their standards and I wouldn't care if they beat them up.
So... as much as I hated to do it, today we bought bikes for them at the big chain store instead of supporting our lbs. Buying 3 of them and at the kids age I just couldn't justify buying better, more expensive bikes. I still feel guilty though.
In an attempt to teach the Grand-Daughter to ride, she, myself and the 2 Grand-Sons went to the park so she could coast down a hill to practice balancing on the bike.
Yesterday for the 5th year I rode in the big city's St Patrick's Parade along with the bike club. As has been the tradition I rode the "Bronco Bike" which always gets a lot of laughs and finger points. It's quite the challenge to ride this bike at a slow pace, in a crowd while snapping photos, handing out candy and trying to keep the beard and hat straight. Nova, Mom, Dad, Daughter and Grandkids all watched the parade.
Following the parade Nova, myself and our Daughter rode around with the bike bunch. While one establishment was offering free Irish stew, we opted instead to ride to a Mexican restaurant for lunch.
