Sunday afternoon Grand-son Blake and I participated in the first Toys For Tots bike ride here. We rode about 6 miles with a group to a park where we dropped off our toy donations and had cookies and hot chocolate. We then rode back to our starting point with a few of our bike club people.
Blake did really well riding the distance and in a large group.
Got Ally's tire replaced and she's back on the road (the clunking turned out to be the chain guard which was loose). She discovered riding with one hand tonight.
Tonight after dinner the Grandkids and myself went out riding popping wheelies and racing around a near-by parking lot. The Grand-daughter riding way to fast for my comfort but having a great time. I notice her bike making a clunking and rubbing noise and once home I comment that I wonder what's wrong with her bike. She says "come here I'll show you" and points to the huge bulge in her tire where it is ripped and the tube pushing through. She then tells me that it happened on the way to the grocery store with Grandma earlier today and ends her story with "I didn't do it" as if she thought she'd be in trouble.
Also tonight the two Grand-sons discovered they were able to ride an old 26" Schwinn that I was riding.
A couple of nights ago the Grandsons and I tore down this bike and gave it a paint job. Tonight we reassembled it using a different seat, sprocket and grips. We left off the chainguard. We then went riding and had a "rat rod" race. On this bike you have to let the air out of the rear tire to remove it from the frame. After returning home from riding we realized we forgot to put air back in the tire.
