Today the 6 of us (Nova, myself, our Daughter and 3 Grandkids) and some of our bike club rode a bike path in the big city stopping by an event that was giving away bikes to neighborhood residents. Some really nice old Schwinns were being given away to young kids who probably wont appreciate the "old" part.
This was Scooch's longest ride yet and she rode really well especially considering she was on a 16" wheeled bike. Stopping is her weak point but thankfully Grandma was alert and has quick reflexes.

Here are 2 Schwinns that were given away. The kids don't look thrilled but it could just be they are puzzled as to my excitement over their new bikes and why I wanted to take their photos.
I had gotten a 20" Hollywood for the Grand-Daughter Ally in a trade at this year's Midwest Bicycle Swap about a month ago. It had been in storage since then. This evening we retrieved it, put some air in the tires, oiled the chain, added some grips then took it for a test ride.
I threw this girls Schwinn ballooner together for me to ride at our clubs upcoming "Ladies Night". When I went to tear it down I encountered a couple of obstacles. First the seat post was stuck in a low position but I can live with that no more than I'll be riding it. Second the stem's wedge nut was stuck in the fork tube. I didn't want to take the time or make the effort to get it out so I lopped off the fork tube and welded another one back on. The wheels, tires and grips are off the Chalkboard Bike and the seat, crank, sprocket, gooseneck and bars I had stashed away. The bike rides great with the big cushy tires and the 2 speed kickback.
