Last Wednesday Blake had a fever so he couldn't go to school
so he stayed with us
Then Thursday the kids were out of school
and also out today for Presidents Day
On Wednesday Blake and I had to do surgery on Ally's Dog
On Thursday it was a pretty nice day so we walked to the park and played a bit
TODAY we made Birthday Cards for Moms birthday this weekend
We had quite a storm come thru this afternoon too
Lots of thunder some lightning and wind and HAIL

Took off this morning and drove to Ark City
and along the Arkansas River to Kaw Oklahoma
Was warm with a little wind but really a great day considering its january30.
The road closed sign was on the other side of the bridge NONE on our side

Holiday today so we got to take care of the kids OH WHAT FUN WE HAD
First we made each one a bandana then we baked cookies
After lunch we went on a hike on the river
We picked up rocks and sticks and shells
saw birds and bird tracks and eagles
came home and made potato soup for supper
GREAT DAY!

Had another spring like day today so we drove to Kingman
Drove out to Kingman Lake and Wildlife area

Could not pass up the chance to take a drive and enjoy the great weather for the end of the year
So we took off and drove to SE Kansas and into Oklahoma
It got up to 72degrees Thursday was an absolutely gorgeous day
We drove thru Medicine Lodge and the Gyp Hills and saw these big ranches
with mile after mile of buffalo
We saw so many deer and armadillos
Sad to say that the water level of the lakes is still critical but recent rain has helped a little.

We stopped at "Glass Mountain or Gloss Mountain"
they are so called because of the selenite
there is a trail up the side of it
there are some stairs that are pretty steep and in need of repair
and then almost to the top had to climb rocks... but I MADE IT ! ! !
and then when on top it is flat and to circle it probably a 1/2 mile hike
What a view from the top....afraid the pics dont' really show the depth tho

We took several back roads and found alot of old abandon houses
which I cannot resist

The 5th Grade Band and Orchestra had a program this morning.
I of course just focused on the Orchestra and the Cello Player ; -)
They did a great job!

Tara and the kids came by tonite and surprised me with birthday presents
A beautiful bouquet of flowers and a "Hello Kitty" cupcake cake with the
yummyist gooyist purple icing
Got a Grandma card and a Great Grandma Card
Ally put on a Ballet and Cheerleading show for us
and then somehow we ended up playing charades
What fun ; -)

Some of the houses were decorated and of course the kids loved it. The one is a couple sitting by their homemade teardrop camper with halloween music playing as they handed out candy.

Today was supposed to be the Gravity Race but it was raining so we decided not to go
Instead the kids came over to play
Played Poker had lunch then cut and colored and made a "mess"
Blake was the Poker winner

We celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary Saturday
we had hamburgers and fries on our wedding night
so what better way to celebrate than with our kids
and Bionic Burgers and Fries and Cake and Ice Cream

On Sunday we left to retrace our honeymoon trip (kinda sorta)
Went to Branson Missouri area over to Bull Shoals and Norfolk Lake
Then we drove down to White Rock Mountain in Arkansas
Stopped by Beaver Lake which was just being built 50 years ago ; -)
We had a Great Trip!
